Why do youth ensembles tour?

​

The benefits of touring are numerous and invaluable for a young musician!  The touring experience offers insight into a different culture, a heightened artistic experience, and priceless peer-to-peer bonding, all within a safe environment and under professional supervision.  Embarking on an international tour opens students’ eyes to a different culture and broadens their understanding of the world around them.  Experiencing this hand-in-hand with high-level performing opportunities gives students the opportunity to not only act as ambassadors for their culture, but also act as ambassadors for the arts.

 

After a full and successful season at home, performing in world-class concert halls for enthusiastic foreign audiences heightens the musical level of the ensemble and each musician while learning that cultures are bridged not only because of music, but through music.  Each student in the ensemble will build deep bonds with fellow peers in the orchestra on an artistic and personal level, resulting in a community of lifelong friends who will celebrate the touring experience for years to come!

 

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of embarking on an international tour of this high artistic and educational level will positively impact the students of PSYE and broaden their horizons as high-level musicians, global citizens, and lifelong learners.
